Flood Relief in Kelantan & Terengganu
Terengganu – 11 May 2015
Generous Malaysians have responded positively to the flood relief initiative spearheaded by McD & RMHC in the month of Jan & Feb 2015 where RM 425,000 has been channeled towards helping schoolchildren in the east coast affected by the floods.
While the presentation to Kelantan schools was held on 22 April at District Education Office in Kuala Krai, the presentation to Terengganu was held yesterday – 11 May at our Dungun restaurant.
The event was graced by YB Dato’ Hj Zubir Hj Embong, the Yang DiPertua Dewan Undangan Negeri Terengganu and attended by representatives from the State Education Department and District Education Offices. Approximately 100 students from around Dungun who attended the event also received schoolbags – courtesy of RMHC.
The fund will be used to rebuild schools damaged by the floods – in the form of building new pedestrian walkways, suraus as well as to purchase new chairs, tables and computers at schools in the districts of Kemaman, Dungun and Kuala Terengganu.
A big thank you to McDonald’s Terengganu franchisees – Syed Hussain Tuan Embong & Azmi Jusoh and Dungun restaurant employees for their support in making the event a great success!
Kelantan – 22 April 2015
RMHC and McDonald’s came together with the Malaysian customers to help children in the East Coast to rebuild their lives after being hit by one of the worst floods in recent Malaysian history.
The cash donation collected from the RMHC coin boxes at McDonald’s outlets across Malaysia totalling to RM211, 432.46 have been matched dollar-to-dollar by McDonald’s bringing the total to RM422, 864.92. The amount which was collected during the month of January and February 2015 will go a long way towards restoring the school infrastructure and purchase of items required for learning.
A cheque presentation of RM225,000 to 15 schools in Kelantan affected by the flood in the areas of Kuala Krai, Manik Urai, Dabong and Kemubu was held. These schools will now have either a new pedestrian walk-way, surau or computers to be used by the school children. The remaining of the fund will be channelled to the affected schools in Terengganu and Pahang at a later date to be confirmed.
